Transformed by the Chicago based design team of Soucie Horner Interiors, the Wickwood Inn is a historical hotel located in downtown Saugatuck, Michigan. Without compromising the flavor and charm of an Inn in a small town, Shea Soucie and Martin Horner combine the familiarity of tradition with modern design. The elegant design seamlessly extends throughout the boutique inn, embodying the rich history of this charming property nestled along Michigan’s vibrant “art coast,” providing guests with an authentic coastal getaway.  With gracious Midwest hospitality, refined design, a delectable farm-to-table breakfast experience crafted by Executive Chef Rose Duong, daily social hour and walking access to Downtown Saugatuck’s charming restaurants, shops, galleries, and beaches, Wickwood Inn raises the bar for small town tourism.

Whilst no two rooms at the Wickwood are alike, the Inn features 11 rooms and suites, each featuring an ensuite modern bathroom with sleek fixtures by Waterworks, wool and silk hand-embroidered SHIIR Rugs, plush Vispring mattresses from The Luxury Bed Collection and more. The living room and study area – which serve homemade baked goods (with banana bread being the most popular) and fresh fruit throughout the day – are adorned with plush sofas and cozy chairs, creating an ideal setting for family gatherings, work sessions, or a quiet solo moment cuddled up by the fire with a book.

The restaurant-style dining room can be configured into one large table for company retreat dinner, a wedding celebration or family reunion. Guests are immediately welcomed with gracious Midwest hospitality, as breakfast is ordered the night before and upon arrival into the dining room, the server greets you by name and asks if you’d like coffee or freshly squeezed juice to start your day. The avocado toast is a must for breakfast, as are the daily homemade pancakes, which change seasonally. Whether you are sitting at a table in the dining room or their beautiful outdoor patio, a perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee (supplied by local roasters Uncommon Coffee) or your afternoon glass of wine, pair your drink of choice with one of their homemade cookies, cakes or breads which are baked on premises.

Just a mile from the Inn, Lulu Cadieux is a perfect place to learn the fine art of cooking from handmade pasta to Moroccan Tagine amongst other seasonal favorites all taught by Chef Jean-Paul Plchot. After putting in the work to craft your special dish and waiting for it to be ready, you can browse the gourmet food and kitchen/tableware gift shop to find the perfect take home souvenir. Another great stop in town is J Petter Galleries, a third-generation art gallery and wine bar/shop where you will find rooms filled with exquisite paintings, sculptures and jewelry and an occasional artist sipping wine while painting; several of their wines are served at the Wickwood Inn. A must while in Saugatuck is a visit to the local breweries and wineries, the Tulip Festival in Holland, Michigan and an incredible jeep ride across the Oval Beach sand dunes. Weather permitting, a short walk from the Wickwood, enjoy a retro boat ride along the Kalamazoo River.

The Wickwood has partnered with Ox-Bow School of Art & Artists’ Residency and recently collaborated with their master glass blower to create custom-designed tableware and drinkware with the elegance and hospitality of the Inn. Their partnerships with premier designers/artisans such as their very own SHIIR Rugs, who create timeless designs with the finest wool, silk and cashmere custom pieces with their ancient artisan techniques, can be found throughout the Inn. Partnerships include Matoük bed linens and bath towels, cashmere ALT for Living throws, decorative pillows by textile artist Lynda O’Connor, and much more. Uniquely, many of the artifacts, artwork and furnishings at Wickwood Inn are available for purchase; the property serves as a living showroom of Soucie Horner, Ltd.

Wickwood Inn is a place for guests to unplug, unwind, and truly take in the unique charms of a historic property and its idyllic coastal surroundings. General Manager Susan Michele’s attention to detail and expertise promises guests of Wickwood Inn an elevated and nostalgic experience where design matters and luxury can be found at every corner.
