McDonald’s Debuts Two New Sauces

Food & Drink

Two new sauces are entering the McDonald’s lineup, offering hundreds of new ways to taste menu favorites.

Starting on Monday, October 9, McDonald’s diners will be able to grab packets of two new sauces to up their dip game. The restaurant’s first-ever breakfast inspired sauce, Sweet & Spicy Jam Sauce, will be added, along with McDonald’s Mambo Sauce, to join 2023’s new dippable Big Mac Sauce as condiment options with any order.

The Sweet and Spicy Jam Sauce is described as a “jammy red pepper sauce with a tongue- numbing Szechuan peppercorn kick and extra heat from cayenne pepper finished with apple cider vinegar.” McDonald’s chefs recommend pairing the Sweet & Spicy Jam with a Sausage McMuffin with Egg, Bacon, Egg & Cheese Biscuit, Hash Browns, Chicken McNuggets, a McCrispy, and, like any McDonald’s sauce, as the perfect vehicle for dipping a handful of fries.

The second sauce, McDonald’s Mambo Sauce, may be familiar to Americans from the nation’s capital. The tomato-based, sweet, spicy and vinegary sauce is inspired by the regional Washington, D.C. area saucey staple, found on wings, fries, chicken and more across the district. At McDonald’s, chefs recommend it on the Quarter Pounder with Cheese, Hash Browns, Chicken McNuggets, McCrispy, and yes, fries.

In honor of the rich cultural ties Mambo sauce has to Washington D.C., McDonald’s will be promoting the new condiment by sharing stories of the sauce makers, restaurateurs, small business owners and fans keeping the culture of Mambo strong through an original documentary debuting on McDonald’s YouTube channel on October 9. Partnerships with food content creators @Mr.Eats305, @sharidyonne, @santanakeish, @misslegarda, @natelovlogs and @blackgirlsexploredc, will also be part of the new sauce campaign. Expect videos showcasing condiment creations, pairings, reviews and more.

“We get inspiration for the food our fans love by exploring the incredible tastes and flavors found in communities across the country,” said Tariq Hassan, Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer at McDonald’s USA. “Sweet & Spicy Jam and Mambo Sauce live at the intersection of flavor and culture – pulling from decades of rich food history and tradition in local restaurants and home kitchens, and bringing the delicious spice, sweetness and kick of heat we know today’s customers are craving. To celebrate their arrival, we’re passing the mic to some of our biggest sauce fans – food content creators – to get their authentic reactions from the very first, drizzle, dip and bite.”
