Overlooking the Puget Sound, Seattle is a hotbed of interesting experiences, fine dining, world class art and Pacific Northwest hospitality. Whether strolling along the Piers, taking in the Olympic Sculpture Park, checking out the bustling downtown or viewing the collection at the Seattle Art Museum, Four Seasons Hotel Seattle is the ideal stay and location for all things Seattle.

Located near the renowned Pike Place Market, Four Seasons Hotel Seattle is steps from many Seattle highlights. With views of the water, a cheerful lobby and restaurant and relaxing pool terrace, I was excited to call this property home for the next couple of nights while I explored downtown Seattle.

Our room is comfortable and refined; crisp white linens embroidered with gleaming four seasons emblems adorn the bed and a toy Boeing jet (a placard explaining the significance of the nearby Boeing plant) are on display in the room. The comfortable space will be perfect to enjoy later, but for now—off to the city beyond!

Steps from the hotel is the SAM, or Seattle Art Museum. A broad collection dating from antiquity to present, the permanent and rotating collections are well curated and definitely worth checking out. The nearby Olympic Sculpture Park is within walking distance from the hotel and is home to outdoor art pieces—a wonderful way to take in the water views and appreciate the artwork all at once.

If you’ve never been to Seattle, you have to check out Pike Place Market. The iconic fish merchants, floral stalls and shopping opportunities are a stimulation to the senses with bright colors, vibrant aromas and cheeky charm. For glass art lovers, nearby Vetri and Traver Galleries are a must-stop to view (and purchase) glassworks from legends of the medium such as Preston Singletary, Dante Marioni, Dale Chihuly and many others.

Within the lobby of the hotel, a sweet treat of luxury chocolates can be found at Fran’s Chocolates. The gleaming showcases displaying gem-like confections with interesting flavor profiles suited to every taste. Direct access to the hotel is available as well as a street-level entrance, so even inclement weather won’t keep you from a sudden chocolate craving.

Ethan Stonewell’s Goldfinch Tavern is a must-try while on property. I dined there for both breakfast and dinner and was thrilled with both experiences. Celebrating local cuisine and a neighborhood feel, Stonewell is a James Beard-nominated chef who impeccably incorporates fine dining with authentic community personality. To start the meal, we tried the Beet & Dungeness Crab Salad with watercress, gribiche sauce and tarragon. Light and fresh, it’s exactly what I was craving for a coastal bite. The seasonal dish I enjoyed was an Alaskan Halibut with spring carrot risotto and balsamic lacquered pea vines. For breakfast, try the Old Fashioned Buttermilk Pancakes topped with mountain huckleberries and pure maple syrup.

Helpful concierge assist guests in reservations and suggestions of local activities. Seattle Aquarium is a well-appointed aquarium located on the water which I’m very glad we visited; oysters on the water at Elliott’s was another A+ activity. Taking a walking tour of the city, the Seattle Spheres, an underground donut tour, checking out the Space Needle, a walking ghost tour and a sunset harbor cruise were all wonderful and unique experiences.

Four Seasons the world over afford fantastic occasions for their guests and Four Seasons Hotel Seattle rises to that standard with flying colors. From the elegant rooms with views of Elliott Bay, to delicious dining and comfortable lounge spots to relax and unwind from a day of exploring the fascinating city of Seattle.
