If you like your beachside vacation with sunsets and sunrises across ocean vistas and secluded white sand beaches, your dream destination, a secluded island in Turks and Caicos, awaits. When celebrities like Justin and Hailey Bieber want to get off the grid (and somewhat stay off social media), they head to South Caicos, where 8.2 square miles of unspoiled coastal landscape with undisturbed beaches and crystal-clear blue lagoons are at your fingertips.
The Sailrock Resort opened up in 2018 and is situated on the most remote and least populated of the Turks and Caicos Islands. As a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World, Sailrock is a soothing retreat and the only five-star resort on the island, bringing a new level of luxury to South Caicos which does not disrupt the quiet rhythm which makes the island so private and appealing.

While arriving on property feels wonderfully distant from everything, Sailrock is only two hours from Miami or a quick putter plane from the Provenciales International Airport (arranged directly through Sailrock), so you’ll be living in the lap of luxury in no time. “Guests are always surprised to find this type of experience so close to home,” said Kashmie Ali, the property’s Managing Director.

As soon as you reach Sailrock, you’re aware you’ve entered somewhere very special. You arrive through the Great House (which is home to the library, an open-air restaurant, and bar), which is situated high on a ridgetop, with soaring ocean and sea views on both sides, offering tremendous comfort in the most stylish of surroundings. Guests can enjoy breakfast (included in the room rate) and dinner at The Great House restaurant, with an array of fresh, innovative, and delectable items on the menu. There is an additional dining option down by the beach, The Cove (open for lunch and dinner), with incredibly fresh seafood options, themed menu nights (including bonfire evenings) and panoramic ocean views. You can also enjoy in-room dining or have dinner prepared for you in your villa’s kitchen by one of the property’s on-site chefs. Prior to your arrival, you can have your fridge and cupboards well stocked by the resort’s staff.
The property’s individual suites and villas are beautifully appointed and feel very Hamptons-like – minimalist, whites and cream tones, and uber rustic chic. The accommodations are built into the natural foliage, linked by pathways and a single road, so it’s easy to navigate one’s stay on this vast, yet super serene, property. The 35 free-standing villas include ridgetop suites, and beachfront and ocean-view peninsula villas, suitable for anywhere from 2-10 guests per accommodation. All of these standalone villas embrace indoor-outdoor living with terraces and/or private infinity pools and sundecks, making it hard to peel yourself away from your suite. But once you do leave the comforts of your private villa, a pristine white-sand powdery beach, lapped by crystal clear tranquil turquoise blue waters rich with marine life, awaits you. This barefoot beach dream is a stunning backdrop to the island’s spectacular sunsets.

Sailrock is a place that embodies everything you think of when you think of a private Caribbean island – the feeling of seclusion and all the beauty of a tropical destination without all of the mega-resorts and crowds. Perfect for couples, families and professionals who truly want to get away from it all to rest and relax and recharge in the most authentic of surroundings. Don’t be surprised if you also see a celeb or two roaming the property, as a stay at Sailrock was recently included as part of the Emmy’s Gifting Suite where actors/actresses from Ted Lasso, Big Little Lies and Shameless were gifted packages.
