Stay on a beautiful private island just minutes from Venice

Lifestyle

From its famous squares, buildings and canals to its charming gondoliers, there are countless reasons to visit Venice. But all of that Italian charm can come with crowds, especially in the summer. For those looking stay close to action, but not necessarily in the center of it, the San Clemente Palace Kempinski offers the best of both worlds.

Located on San Clemente Island, in the Venetian Lagoon, the 190-room property enjoys stunning views of the historic skyline, but none of the hustle and bustle of the city. If the idea of calling a private Italian island home somehow doesn’t convince you to make the trip, here are ten more reasons to add a stay to your European bucket list.

The Kempinski offers complimentary, private boat shuttles every 30 minutes between San Clemente Island and Piazza San Marco. Boats are warm and comfortable, with cushy seats – you won’t get any sea spray in your face unless you want it. Climb the few steps from the main cabin areas and join the captain for the best views.

The shuttle trip takes 10 to 15 minutes, but regardless of the direction you’re headed, you might find yourself wishing it took a bit longer. As you get closer to San Clemente Island, the 12th-century church makes itself known, setting a lasting first impression for your stay.
