Hudson Yards Gem: The Crowne Plaza HY36

Lifestyle

Crowne Plaza HY36

I find myself in Manhattan a couple of times a year, so I’ve tried quite a few hotels around the city. There is certainly no shortage of options when it comes to places to stay, but that list gets a lot shorter if you’re looking for a hotel that feels new and fresh and is in the heart of all the action.

Enter the Crowne Plaza HY36 in the trendy Hudson Yards neighborhood. Central to Crowne Plaza’s reimagination of the brand, the hotel was designed by NYC architecture firm Stonehill Taylor and opened in 2017. Even today, it still feels brand new.

I’ll get back to the design, but let’s talk about my favorite feature of this hotel: the location.

A short walk from the front door, you can get to Madison Square Garden, Penn Station, Times Square, the Empire State Building and the Javits Center. Looking for something a little more scenic? The High Line is nearby and offers a respite from the hustle and bustle of the city.

At the end of a long day, grab a bite from on-site restaurant Burgerology Midtown and then relax in a cozy bathrobe high above the city streets. From the spa-like bathrooms with spacious showers to the sleek modern design, the rooms at the Crowne Plaza HY36 are some of the nicest in New York City at its price point.

While many hotel rooms in Manhattan will leave you feeling claustrophobic, rooms at the Crowne Plaza HY36 are spacious by NYC standards. Huge picture windows let in abundant light, which we particularly enjoyed during a winter visit where rooms can sometimes feel dark and gloomy.

I highly recommend booking a room on a high floor for some nice views. From the comfy bed to the windows that blocked out the city noise, we slept soundly here every night of our weeklong stay for business.

Speaking of business, the hotel also has a great business center with plenty of room to work if you need a space before or after check-in or just need to get out of your room for a change in scenery.

You’re sure to feel welcome from the time you enter the lobby. The staff at the Crowne Plaza HY36 was friendly and attentive throughout our stay.

We also loved the New Modern industrial façade, which was inspired by Penn Station, the Lincoln Tunnel, and Grand Central Station. So many hotels in Manhattan have the same basic decor as their sister properties in every city in America, but not the Crowne Plaza HY36.

You’re sure to love the vibe of this trendy hotel almost as much as you’ll love the incredible location.
