Where To Eat And Drink In London: March 2024

Food & Drink

With springtime on the horizon (fifteen days and counting, technically!), March is looking like a great month for London’s food lovers. Too great, some might say; restaurants are unveilingnew seasonal menus, we’ve got St Patrick’s Day coming around the corner, and there are more than a few new pop-ups to turn our attention to.

Whether you’re a local looking for a new favorite or a visitor eager to explore the best London has to offer this month, these are the top picks for where to eat and drink in London this month:

GAIA

Conceptualized by Evgeny Kuzin and Chef Izu Ani (two of the most prominent hospitality entrepreneurs across the UAE), GAIA has fast-earned a reputation among Mayfair’s well-heeled foodies as the place to go for Greek food in London. And it shows. Serving the most glamorous Greek cuisine you could possibly conceive, its the perfect spot for people-watching over elevated classics like prawns saganaki, spanakopita, taramosalata and more. The tower of homemade frozen Greek yogurt with honey, caramelized walnuts and loukoumades is worth a trip alone.

St Patrick’s Day Menu at 65a

Irish restaurateur Patrick Frawley and exec head chef Maura Baxter have whipped up a properly celebratory St Paddys Day tasting menu this year, and you won’t want to miss out. From the 15th to 17th of March, 65a patrons can enjoy a feast of soda bread & treacle butter, fried Guinness-battered oysters with Irish whiskey ketchup, sweet and salty Guinness glazed pork belly, a roast loin of Irish bacon, Galloway beef and Guinness pie, plus the restaurant’s signature flourless chocolate cake – topped with Bailey’s cream, natch. Pair it with a black velvet (champagne and Guinness) for the ultimate treat.

Prelude by Oriole

Before launching the second permanent site for Oriole, the award-winning speakeasy, later this summer, the cocktail bar’s highly-acclaimed team are launching a three-month R&D pop-up on March 13th at The Yards in Covent Garden. Here, food and drink will be on an equal, experimental footing for the first time with a brand new list of cocktails to be accompanied by a varied, Latin America-infuenced à la carte menu. Expect everything from beef tartare finger sandos to cocktails washing 12-year-old Highland Park with chocolate miso, asparagus distillate, amontillado sherry, green walnut vermouth and cold brewed Hojoicha tea.

Marugame Udon

One of the most accessibly-priced food options for shoppers across London, Marugame’s udon noodles are actually made fresh in its open kitchens each day. Everything they make is, in fact, including unhurried broths, a delicious range of tempura, and tonnes of complimentary toppings and condiments. The “creamy” tonkotsu-style vegan udon is one of the growing chain’s biggest draws (even for non-vegans), but you’ll want to add the pumpkin tempura, whatever your order.

Alice In Wonderland by Taste Film

Taste Film has been making culinary magic out of many of our favorite films for years, but no pop-up has excited us quite like the month-long reimagination of 2010’s Alice In Wonderland. In this immersive dining experience, guests will experience everything from Roses are Red tarts (tomato rose, basil, red onion and cream cheese) to Magic Mushroom Mezcalitas (mushroom-infused mezcal, cointreau, lime and orange), as well as a fully-fledged Twisted Tea Party (of course). Bookings recommended as spaces go quickly.

Piccolino

There are few terraces as fun to visit as Piccolino Heddon Street, and its restaurant group, Individual Restaurants, has just given visitors another reason to indulge in its fresh egg pastas, luxurious Bisteca dishes, and sustainably-sourced seafood. The new ‘Club IR’ — a kind of no-points loyalty system – rewards diners and drinkers with access to exclusive tastings, foodie events, culinary trips, and 50% off wine and Champagne every Wednesday (the latter of which is reason enough to join, in our opinion).
