CAULIPOWER Brings Protein-Packed Chicken Bites To Its Line-Up

Food & Drink

Long known for its frozen food aisle innovation, CAULIPOWER has been serving up delicious and healthy alternative takes on family favorites. Last week, the company introduced Chicken Bites, the newest addition to their line-up of cauliflower-powered delights. Offered in two flavors, classic and dill, the company says its new Chicken Bites are the first cauliflower-coated chicken bites on the market. The chicken bites are also one of very few gluten-free options available; an important step in furthering the core mission for the company’s founder Gail Becker, who started CAULIPOWER because her two sons both were diagnosed with Celiac Disease.

As Becker searched for options, she became increasingly frustrated with what she saw the industry putting in gluten-free foods, more sugar, fat and calories and less nutrients. According to Becker, “CAULIPOWER was never just a gluten-free brand though. Most people who buy our products are not gluten-free. My goal was simply to introduce foods that would allow everyone to eat delicious, better-for-you foods that just happened to be gluten-free.” The company, which first launched in 2017, has grown significantly as consumers have demanded healthier alternatives to traditional frozen food options in grocery stores around the world. It has also expanded its footprint by entering into the restaurant scene when the company teamed up with Marco’s Pizza last summer.

“We continue to innovate within our three main categories – pizza, chicken, and meals – and that is where we will see our growth continue,” Becker said. According to recent research, pizza continues to dominate the frozen food category, but frozen chicken options have been steadily growing strong. “We challenged the $3.5BN coated chicken category in 2019, with our highly disruptive cauliflower-coated real chicken tenders which are baked instead of fried,” said Becker. The popularity of the company’s chicken tenders led them to create the new chicken bites, providing consumers a snackable option with an all-natural chicken coated in both cauliflower and chickpea flour. “Most companies slashed innovation during the pandemic. As a result, the number of new product launches within the frozen space decreased significantly over the last two years,” Becker continued. “CAULIPOWER bucked that trend and continued to invest and lead the category through innovation to drive growth for the company through different categories and new consumers.”

The all new chicken bites are currently available nationwide at Walmart and in select Target stores, with availability in thousands of additional locations over the coming months.
