Aman New York, The City’s Most Luxurious Destination Hotel, Is Also A Great Place For Families

Food & Drink

Last year, New York City welcomed the much-anticipated opening of Aman New York. This Zen-like gem on west 57th Street has been heralded for its spacious suites, which each include multiple high-tech gadgets, fireplaces and luxurious décor. It is one of the most relaxing city properties and also features a spectacular spa, an impressive gym, and perfectly curated dining experiences. Nothing quite prepares you for the sense of calm you feel as you first walk in and guests who have enjoyed other Aman properties will be thrilled to experience the same level of service and artistry. Perhaps lesser known is the fact that Aman New York is also an ideal hotel for families. Below are several reasons that families will feel extremely welcome in this urban oasis.

Spacious suites

Families will be thrilled with the large suites. Every room is billed as a suite and even the smallest suites measure almost 750 sq. feet. Rooms are easily combined and the largest suites are over 2,700 sq. feet. Parents and kids will be thrilled with the opulent bathrooms, which include oval soaking tubs and marble rain showers. Natural materials, including stone vases filled with calming greenery provide an instant sense of peace. Be sure to take advantage of the butler service: your butler will happily unpack (and pack) your luggage and make arrangements to snag a favorite toy from FAO Shwartz or to arrange for a special treat. The well-stocked bar means adults can enjoy an in-room cocktail, while younger members of the entourage can snack on complementary gummy bears and pretzels, as well as fruit juices.

Excellent dining options

Breakfast is included in your room stay and guests tend to enjoy the delicious offerings at Arva. The service here is outstanding. While adults can savor freshly squeezed juices, grain bowls and classics such as eggs Benedict, younger guests can indulge in pancakes, berries and some amazing granola. Dinner at Arva is a real treat, with a focus on Italian specialties. This is the place to indulge in burrata served with a unique pistachio pesto, Roman-style artichokes and some of the best pasta in town. The 45 day-aged ribeye is highly recommended, but you can also choose wood-roasted lobster or a very tasty cheeseburger. The kid’s menu is sophisticated and includes a salmon fillet and burrata with cured ham, but also chicken tenders and home-made gelati. The menu changes with the seasons and the majority of Arva’s ingredients are sourced locally. The hotel works with over 750 farmers to obtain the best, most sustainable ingredients.

If you are seeking a truly outstanding Japanese quisine, Nama is the place to go. Nama celebrates the Japanese “washoku” dining tradition that focuses on authentic and uncomplicated dishes that feature the highest-quality ingredients, including fish flown in daily from Japan. The restaurant has also created a Japanese Hinoki wood counter for hosting omakase fine dining experiences. “Omakase” translates as “I‘ll leave it up to you,” and here you will experience a multi-course menu curated by Chef Takuma Yonemaru, based on ingredients sourced that day. Only eight seats are available per seating, but that means you will have a front-row seat to watch the chef’s mastery. And if you decide to order off the menu, your choices include exquisite nigiri, sashimi and sweet miso black cod as well as exceptional Wagyu sirloin grilled table-side and served with Moshio mineral salt. Kids can choose between multiple types of dumplings.

Wellness options

Most parents appreciate the chance to relax in a welcoming spa and the spa at the Aman does not disappoint. Aman New York has dedicated over 25,000 sq. feet to wellness. Guests are welcomed to a super tranquil space and have the option to engage in an integrative exam with Harvard-trained doctor, Robert Graham or a member of his staff, who can put together a bespoke wellness program. Your program can focus on stress management, detoxification or sports performance enhancement and may include a recommendation for cryotherapy or an IV infusion. Or, you can simply indulge in a signature massage. For the ultimate in relaxation, you can book a Spa House, your own private treatment oasis which can include a Hamman, a steam room or a Banya and features a large outdoor terrace with a hot and cool plunge pool and a fireplace.

Families will love the heated pool and fitness enthusiasts and older teens will really appreciate the 5,000 sq. foot gym that is very well-equipped and rarely crowded. Families can also book private yoga sessions, private training sessions and time in the Pilates studio.

Bespoke experiences

The wonderful concierges at Aman New York can help you create a very special family experience. You can engage one of the hotel’s art or history experts to take you on a private tour of your favorite museum, including kid-friendly options such as the Museum of Natural History. Foodies will enjoy an excursion to the Union Square Greenmarket with Arva’s Executive Chef. Produce, local cheese, baked goods and other treats picked out by guests can then be incorporated into a bespoke dining experience that evening. The property also offers classes in pasta, pastry, sushi and cookie making, as well as one in “fish butchery.” Guests can also arrange to attend a photography session, an artist’s workshop led by a master artist, or a neighborhood tour tailored to your group’s preferences. Families will love the convenience of the two house cars that can drive them to excursions around the neighborhood.

And this summer, Aman New York has created a Family Escape Experience that is designed to create many opportunities for family bonding and terrific memories. This package includes a two-night stay, a pastry or sushi masterclass led by the property’s amazing chefs and a private family yoga session.

Aman New York is a very special place and families, as well as adults, will feel very well taken care of and extremely welcome.
