Rooms are decorated in muted greys with splashes of yellow on furniture and royal blue honeycomb patterned headboards – a nod to the Manchester bee. The hotel is less than six miles, or around a 15-minute drive (around £14 in a taxi), from the airport with train and Metrolink tram connections nearby too.

Allow some time to linger in this boutique hotel before or after a trip. In the upmarket south Manchester suburb of Didsbury, all rooms but entry-level snugs have roll-top baths to soak in, there’s a terrace or cosy lounge for drinks, and spa or beauty treatments can be arranged. All bedrooms are individually styled but expect statement wallpaper, tactile fabrics, feature lighting and cast-iron radiators throughout. It’s around a 15-minute drive to the airport – about £14 in a taxi. The hotel is also less than a 10-minute walk from East Didsbury railway station with routes to the airport.
