Expert guide to Tignes
Because Tignes’ five villages are so spread-out, it’s important to be aware of accommodation location before booking. Val Claret and Tignes Le Lac, jointly known as Tignes 2100, make the most convenient bases.
Although the satellites of Tignes Les Boisses (aka Tignes 1800) and Tignes Les Brévières lower down the mountain, at 1,800m and 1,550m respectively, are both well linked into the ski area, Tignes 2100 has the pick of hotels, restaurants, bars and shops.

Village Montana and Les Suites du Montana
A complex of Savoyard-style serviced suites and hotel rooms in Le Lac, some across two floors. Village Montana is of four-star standard, while Les Suites offer a more luxurious five-star option.

Langley Hotel Tignes 2100
Modern, hip and stylishly decorated with fabulous mountain views from the bedrooms, the Langley Hotel Tignes 2100 was gutted and completely renovated a few years ago. Rooms are compact and there’s a light and spacious restaurant and bar area and a good spa with a steam room, a sauna with a floor-to-ceiling window, hot tub and treatments.

Les Campanules
A smartly rustic chalet-style hotel in the upper part of Tignes le Lac, the four-star Les Campanules has very comfortable public areas, bedrooms and suites and an excellent restaurant and wine list. There’s a great outdoor pool with fabulous views, a hot tub, sauna and steam room, plus spa treatments.

Le Taos
A plush four-star that opened in 2015/16, Le Taos is a ski-in/ski-out hotel in Tignes le Lac with a ‘New Mexico’ inspired atmosphere and décor. It has chic and stylish suites and apartments varying from 20 to 90sqm and an indoor pool, sauna, steam room and treatments.

Chalets and apartments
Le Hameau du Borsat
These apartments in Val Claret are close to both shops and restaurants and the funicular to the Grande Motte and its glacier. Frills are entirely absent, but for somewhere inexpensive and convenient, self-catering at Le Hameau du Borsat fits the bill nicely.

L’Ecrin des Neiges
An apartment block on the approach to Val Claret with adequate accommodation. L’Ecrin des Neiges is easy on the budget, and the options become cheaper the more friends or family are prepared to share the space.

Kalinda Village
A smart apartment complex at Tignes Les Boisses (Tignes 1800), Kalinda Village is located in the middle of the village between the church and the beginner slopes and gondola. It has its own restaurant and bar as well as a spa with pool, sauna, steam room and hot tub.

Chalet de la Cloche
Sleeping 16 in eight double bedrooms in considerable comfort, this elegant British-owned building with contemporary decoration and a small pool is in the middle of Tignes Les Brévières. Yes, Chalet de la Cloche is a long way from Val Claret and the main ski area hub, but it’s the kind of home-from-home guests are reluctant to leave once returned from the slopes in the evening.
