Resy And CLEAR Partner To Help Restaurants With Health Requirements

As more states and municipalities start mandating proof of vaccination for indoor activities and employment, the already understaffed hospitality industry is hit with yet another burden. Hosts and baristas now double as vaccine bouncers, a task which goes above the job description, and can be both tedious and potentially dangerous. Add in the reliable staffing of vaccinated and COVID-free team members serving the public, and it’s all a major headache for a hurting industry.

Looping in proof of vaccine with digital restaurant platforms naturally makes sense, and hospitality technology platform Resy is now partnering with Clear, the secure identity company, to help with new problems plaguing the industry.

The new Health Pass by CLEAR, a premium tool in the CLEAR app, will provide new COVID-19 specific tools to help employers manage health and safety protocols digitally.

The new health pass can help employees manage staff with easy proof of vaccination, test results, and a healthy survey to screen for symptoms.

“Our restaurant partners are operating in a very challenging, continuously evolving pandemic environment. They are doing their best to keep up and adapt to new policies that are stretching their limited bandwidth even further,” said Alex Lee, VP & GM of Resy and the American Express Global Dining network. “Resy’s goal is to support them by providing a suite of technology that helps streamline operations and allows them to focus on hospitality.”

Additionally, CLEAR’s digital vaccine card will make it easier for guests to dine out where proof of vaccination is required. Users can download the free CLEAR app, tap the blue digital vaccine card tile, and then enroll by verifying their identity and snapping a quick selfie.  The verified proof of vaccine can then be used anywhere, without the added burden of pulling out a matching ID, which CLEAR will already verify.

“Right now, restaurants and small businesses have enough on their plate, and we are excited to team up with Resy to give them one less thing to worry about,” said Caryn Seidman-Becker, CLEAR CEO. “Together, we are helping both restaurants and diners focus on getting back to what they love as safely and easily as possible.”
