A second Mother’s Day in lockdown is going to be tough for many, but the good news is that family reunions and shared experiences are not too far away. In the meantime, here’s our pick of the best gifts you can send, from hotels across the country, throughout the weekend.
Ham Yard afternoon tea, London
Savoury starters in the afternoon tea from Firmdale boutique classic Ham Yard include tomato arancini, and olive and ricotta palmier, while on the cake menu there’s lime and dark chocolate tartlet, raspberry macarons and white peach and vanilla choux. The teas, available for one, two or four, also include a RIKRAK by Kit Kemp Wheatgrass Bay scented candle, and a sparkling option for four is available.

Brown’s afternoon tea or three-course meal, London
Another hotel offering both a savoury and sweet option is Rocco Forte’s London address, Brown’s. The latter comes with JING tea and a spring posy from Ellie Hartley Flowers, while the three-course dinner features Portland seafood cocktail; chicken stuffed with black garlic and shallots, broccoli and Jersey Royals; and a raspberry, champagne and white chocolate trifle. The Connaught patisserie, London
Among delectable treats created especially for the occasion by The Connaught‘s stellar patisserie team is a Mother’s Day cake; a pink rose crafted from vanilla sponge, pear, lemon curd, shortbread and Chantilly cream. It is finished with a sprinkling of rose petals and gold and comes in both individual and family size.

A classic comes to your living room. Finger sandwiches span smoked salmon with capers and Norfolk chicken with truffle parmesan, to Clarence Court duck egg with heritage tomatoes. Bvlgari Hotel London and Zuma tasting menu and spa experience, London
The swanky Bvlgari hotel has joined forces with contemporary Japanese restaurant Zuma to offer products for some at-home pampering, followed by a blowout sushi banquet. £198 for two, with champagne options available. Order via Zuma for delivery within a seven-mile radius of the hotel.
Hotels at home
For those missing the actual experience of being in a hotel, many properties offer a slice of this that you can enjoy at home to tide you over until the real thing from May 17. Ireland’s Adare Manor, for instance, sells its plush white robes for €120 (£104). More alternative options meanwhile include those such as the Experimental Group’s recently launched monthly Henrietta Cognac Club, which will send recipients a limited edition pack of the brandy (£35).
Pay it forward
The other option is to give her something to look forward to, in the form of quality time with you in the lap of luxury. You can book a stay, or lots of hotels offer vouchers; for spa days, afternoon teas and more at the ultimate country house Cliveden for instance.
