Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is taking on his holiday persona “Dwanta Claus” again to release another new ice cream flavor. The actor and businessman recently announced the details of his latest collaboration with Salt & Straw on social media.
This year’s special flavor is Dwanta’s Teremana Spiked Eggnog, a boozy ice cream version of the classic holiday drink. It features reposado tequila from Teremana, a tequila brand co-founded by Johnson and partners Dany Garcia, Jenna Fagnan and Ken Austin. Johnson and Garcia acquired an ownership stake in Salt & Straw last year.
According to a release from Salt & Straw, which is based in Portland, Oregon, the ice cream’s rich custard base is infused with Teremana’s “oaky vanilla flavor” and also contains hints of amontillado sherry, nutmeg and salt.
The festive flavor is available in both scoop and pint form across all of Salt & Straw scoop shops along the West Coast. The small-batch ice cream company operates over 15 locations. Customers who purchase pints of the special-edition ice cream will receive exclusive Teremana cocktail recipes to pair with it.
MORE FOR YOU
Dwanta’s Teremana Spiked Eggnog can also be purchased online for nationwide shipping as part of a five-pint holiday pack, priced at $65. The other pints in the curated set are Johnson’s favorite classic Salt & Straw flavors, Double Fold Vanilla and Chocolate Gooey Brownie, as well as I Saw Mommy Kissing Dwanta Claus and The Rock’n Around the Christmas Tree—a duo of flavors he created with the ice cream brand last year. This year’s holiday special comes with a note and signed pint labels from “Dwanta Claus.”
Through December 31, $1 from every pint of the spiked eggnog flavor sold at scoop shops and online through the holiday pack will benefit World Central Kitchen’s Restaurants for the People initiative, which supports restaurants by paying them to cook meals for hungry and food-insecure people. Teremana has committed to matching every dollar donated.
“Dwanta brings the joy and unity this world needs now more than ever,” said Tyler Malek, head ice cream maker at Salt & Straw, in the release. “During a year when we could all use more tequila and ice cream, we hope this flavor captures the spirit of Dwanta and the whimsy of the holiday season.”
This is not the only new collaboration for Salt & Straw. Malek recently worked with perfumer Josh Meyer of Imaginary Authors to release A Whiff of Waffle Cone as a unisex fragrance and candle.
The scent, meant to evoke the experience of smelling freshly baked waffle cones upon walking into an ice cream shop, combines notes of vanilla, heavy cream, salted caramel, amyris, orgeat and Saigon cinnamon. The candle and perfume are both available at Salt & Straw scoop shops on the West Coast and online for nationwide shipping.
