Q&A: Should I cancel my ski holiday? Your questions answered

Advice

The impact of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has hit skiers and snowboarders particularly hard this week.

In the latest blow, today the major ski resorts in Austria announced they will close on Sunday for the remainder of the season. The news comes five days after all resorts in Italy were also forced to end their ski seasons early as the country went into lock down and Britons were advised against travel to the country. Major ski festivals have also been cancelled following restrictions on large public events, leaving many without their longed-for trip to the mountains.

The situation is ever-changing and with only a few weeks of the 2020 ski season left for resorts in the northern hemisphere many have questions regarding their trips to the slopes.

Which resorts are now closed and what other restrictions could impact your ski holiday?

How are tour operators responding and is it safe to still travel to ski resorts that are still open?

To answer these questions, and any others you may have about your ski holiday, our online ski editor Lucy Aspden will be on hand from 1pm to 2pm today (Friday).
