It’s summer’s end in many places in the northern hemisphere, but not in Los Angeles. Temps remain in the high 80s for the foreseeable future, and the city has all manner of pool scenes to facilitate your own personal style of chilling out.

The Viceroy Santa Monica is a top choice for privacy and service, with a seasonal food and beverage menu from onsite restaurant Cast that complements the ambiance. While the hotel is scheduled to undergo renovations nearly two decades after its opening in 2002, Kelly Wearstler’s retro-chic design is still on point, with a color palette of green, white and gray tones in an interior space that’s still literally and figuratively cool, a respite from the beach in full-on sun, just across the street.

Cabana service here is as classy as it gets, with waiters waiting for your gaze to catch theirs. And the menu is L.A. luxe, including wild salmon with local veggies and a drink menu with all the classics.

Cabana service at the Four Seasons Beverly Wilshire is as understatedly elegant and old-school as the rest of the property. That is to say it’s perfect in every way: anticipatory, unobtrusive, thoughtful, friendly, and comprehensive.

A row of cabanas is divided by curtains for privacy, so the size can vary, as needed, and each rental comes with a complimentary bottle of Champagne to start things off. The hotel is remarkably kid-friendly, given its elegance and grandeur. Staff, in many ways, train visiting kids how to be good guests, treating them with as much courtesy and kindness as adults. It’s a good model I wish more properties would adopt.

Mr. C Beverly Hills is a somewhat under-the-radar brand whose Los Angeles outpost has a fabulous, unpretentious pool scene with different levels of cabana experiences. The C Cabana Inclusive in designed for up to six guests and include fresh-pressed juice, pressed juice, a fruit and cheese plate delieverd on your preferred schedule, and both bottled water and a pitcher of Bellinis or the Mr. C house cocktail.

Mr. C. Beverly Hills

Almost every hotel in L.A. with enough space devotes some real estate to a pool, given sunny SoCal’s weather and general vibe. Cabanas are expensive, typically ranging from $400-$650 for the day, but they are a great option for entertaining or splurging on vacation with the kids when you want to avoid inevitable sunburn.

And theprivacy factor cannot be underestimated. Cabanas give you the space you need to really decompress, but with service at your fingertips.

These three choices are at the top of the list for cabana rentals in Beverly Hills and Santa Monica and represent the city’s top-notch service, as well as food and beverage menus.
